Dialektika at the 58th International Congress of Americanists (ICA 2025), Novi Sad

ICA 2025 – “New Challenges, New Spaces”
Novi Sad, Serbia | June 30 – July 4, 2025

Our organization, Dialektika: Global Forum for Critical Thinking, the Humanities, and the Social Sciences, played an active role in the congress held in Novi Sad, marking the 150th anniversary of the ICA.

The theme “New Challenges, New Spaces” invited participants to examine today’s global issues from multiple perspectives: cognitive capitalism, migration, democratic crises, violence, climate change, digital archives, and disruptive technologies, among others. This edition also incorporated a Balkan perspective on Americanist studies, enriching the dialogue from an intercontinental platform.

Dialektika’s Participation in ICA 2025

Members of Dialektika took part in various aspects of the event:

  • Presentation of papers in thematic symposia on political philosophy, decolonial studies, emerging technologies, and the crisis of emancipatory projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Participation in collective book presentations linked to our academic journal and editorial collaborations.

Our presence was especially relevant in areas related to critical thinking, social studies, philosophy, new epistemologies, and collaborative academic practice.

About ICA and Its Relevance

The 58th ICA was organized by the University of Novi Sad, in cooperation with the Faculty of Philosophy and its Ibero-American Center CIBAM, the Faculty of Technical Sciences, the Faculty of Sciences, and the Faculty of Technology.

The congress, one of the oldest interdisciplinary academic gatherings in the world —first held in 1875 in Nancy, France— brought together between 1,500 and 3,000 participants from over sixty countries. The thematic areas included anthropology, history, philosophy, cultural studies, linguistics, technology, political science, human rights, gender studies, migration, public policy, and Southern epistemologies.
